There is a combination of necessary tasks that help the reception run smoothly and successfully. One of the most stressful and tedious tasks is creating a seating chart.

While many might believe this is unnecessary, allowing guests to sit anywhere that they choose could lead to chaos.

So, why is creating a seating chart a must do? I’m glad you asked! Let's dive in to three reasons you should use a seating chart.

1. It's an inviting feeling that sets the tone for the rest of the event.

It's the follow through from the invitation that reminds your guests you thought specifically of them, and they are special to you and the love of your life.

2. You don’t want your guests wondering around looking for a place to sit.

People gravitate to other people they know, but what about the friend that hasn’t met your family yet? Instead of making your guests ask over and over, "Is this seat taken?”, take away those awkward moments by using a seating chart.

3. It’s so much easier to serve meals.

If you allow your guests to write which entrée that they want on the response card, serving those meals goes much more smoothly when guests have assigned seating. This choice helps the servers find who needs which plate, and there is less confusion when guests start arriving at the venue.

While many might believe the seating chart is unnecessary, allowing guests to sit anywhere that they choose could lead to guests feeling awkward, not being able to find a spot, and could delay or cause confusion while serving dinner . That is why you must create a seating chart.
